Restore your sun-exposed skin with LED light
What light does after sun: soothe, repair, strengthen
A day in the sun can feel amazing, but your skin often pays the price — redness, tightness, overheating or even cellular damage. LED light therapy (more specifically, photobiomodulation) is a science-backed way to support your skin’s recovery. With targeted wavelengths and the right routine, you activate natural regeneration — without any harsh aftercare. Discover how red and yellow light help soothe and strengthen your summer skin.
How LED light targets sun damage at a cellular level through photobiomodulation
Photobiomodulation is the process by which skin cells respond to specific wavelengths of LED light. It stimulates the mitochondria (the energy centres of your cells), increases ATP production, reduces inflammation and speeds up recovery. Unlike UV rays, LEDs don’t generate heat or cause damage.
Scientific research shows that:
🔴 Red light (630–660 nm) strengthens the skin barrier, reduces redness and boosts cell turnover.
🟡 Yellow light (590 nm) supports blood circulation, calms the skin and reduces swelling in sensitive or overheated skin.
Where traditional aftersun products often work only on the surface, LED therapy goes deeper. Especially after intense sun exposure, this process helps limit the oxidative stress caused by UV radiation — and in the long term, helps prevent premature skin ageing.

Pigment correction & an even skin tone
LED therapy – especially using red and near-infrared light – has also been shown to help reduce pigmentation and even out skin tone. This is because the regenerative and anti-inflammatory effects of the light help normalise the activity of melanocytes (pigment-producing cells), preventing the development of hyperpigmentation. By using LED after sun exposure, you reduce the risk that small inflammations turn into stubborn dark spots – ideal for achieving a clear, even complexion.
For enhanced results, you can combine LED therapy with a targeted pigment treatment such as the Líkami PLUS Hyperpigmentation Serum, enriched with kojic acid – a powerful active that helps fade discolouration and visibly brighten the skin.
Note: since active acids like kojic acid can be light-sensitive in combination with LED, apply the serum at least four hours after your LED session, preferably in the evening. This gives your skin time to process the LED stimulus, allowing the serum to work effectively during the skin’s natural nighttime repair phase.

LED therapy as both a preventive and restorative tool
LED therapy isn’t just about recovery – it can also be used preventively. As National Geographic notes, it mimics the healing components of sunlight without the harmful UV rays. It’s a smart way to bring the benefits of sunlight indoors – such as boosted collagen production and improved circulation – while avoiding the downsides. What’s more, LED therapy is completely pain-free and safe, with no downtime, making it the ideal daily ritual after sun exposure.

What should you do after a sunny day?
1. Soothe and hydrate
Cleanse your face gently with our Cleansing Milk – a mild, creamy emulsion that removes impurities without disrupting the skin barrier. Follow with the Calming Aftersun Mist: a cooling botanical spray with Aloe Vera, Calendula, Chamomile, Dragon’s Blood extract and grape leaf extracts. This mist soothes, hydrates and visibly restores.
2. Use LED for recovery
🔴 Red light
