Let's Talk Ingredients - Kaolin Clay
We work with natural ingredients, always. Let's find out the functioning of each ingredient we use in our products.
Discover the hidden power of nature with kaolin white clay, one of the main ingredients in our Facial Mask. This special type of clay, known for its purifying and skin-softening properties, is an ancient beauty secret that is still appreciated today.
Kaolin clay is a type of clay often used in the cosmetics and skincare industry. The clay is named after the hill where it was originally discovered, Kao-ling in China. Kaolin clay is also rich in a mineral known as kaolinite and contains feldspar, quartz, and silica dioxide, among others.
Most kaolin clay is white, but it can also be found in other hues - although the whiter it is, the purer it is. Interestingly, the clay is also used for making pottery and certain medications.
In terms of consistency, kaolin clay is fine and soft. It also has a relatively low pH of 4.5, which places it on the more basic side of the pH scale. Normally, our skin has a pH of around 5.5. Because the pH of kaolin clay is so close to our natural pH, it is often better accepted and causes less irritation.
In our Facial Mask, kaolin plays a crucial role. It not only helps in cleansing and soothing the skin but also works in conjunction with other natural ingredients in the mask to nourish and revitalize the skin. The unique composition ensures that the mask is suitable for all skin types, even the most sensitive.
The benefits of Kaolin White Clay
- Purifying Effect: Kaolin clay helps to absorb excess oil and dirt, which can contribute to reducing acne and clogged pores.
- Gentle on the Skin: Unlike some other types of clay, kaolin is gentle enough for sensitive skin types.
- Improves Skin Texture: Regular use can help refine skin texture, making your skin feel softer and smoother.
- Calming Properties: Kaolin also has calming properties that help reduce redness and irritation.
After cleansing face with Cleansing Milk, apply a generous layer of mask to entire face, neck and décolleté. Leave on for up to 10-15 minutes. Rinse thoroughly with warm water and pat skin dry. Follow by Facial Essential Serum and Facial Intensive Hydrating Cream. Repeat 1-2 times a week. For all skin types, gender neutral.
Pro tip: mix a pea-sized amount of the mask into your daily cleanser to boost its effects!
