What causes hyperpigmentation?
Hyperpigmentation occurs when skin cells produce excessive melanin, the pigment responsible for skin color. This can happen due to various factors, such as sun exposure, hormonal changes, inflammation, or skin damage. When melanin clumps together, it can result in dark spots or patches on the skin.
How long will hyperpigmentation last?
The duration for hyperpigmentation to fade can vary depending on individual factors such as skin type, skincare routine, age, and genetics. Generally, milder patches of hyperpigmentation, which are slightly darker than the rest of the skin, may take around six to twelve months to fade with proper skincare and treatment.
How long does it take for kojic acid to fade hyperpigmentation?
Kojic acid, a commonly used ingredient for brightening skin and reducing hyperpigmentation, works on a cellular level to suppress excess melanin production. While it can begin to inhibit melanocytes within a few minutes after application, visible results in terms of fading hyperpigmentation can typically be seen within a range of 8 to 35 days of consistent use. The timeframe may vary depending on the severity of the hyperpigmentation and individual skin response.
Is it recommended to use the Hyperpigmentation Serum in the evening or morning?
To optimise the benefits of the Hyperpigmentation Serum, it is generally recommended to use it in the evening as part of your nighttime skincare routine. This allows the active ingredients, such as kojic acid, to work overnight without interference from other products or exposure to sunlight. During the day, it is important to apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF to protect the skin from further sun damage, which can worsen hyperpigmentation.
